Crafting My Digital Space: A Website Revamp

A structured approach to blending work, projects, and personal passions into a cohesive website experience.

ADR: Website Navigation Revamp

1. Context

My website has evolved beyond a simple portfolio—it’s now a space where I share professional projects, personal experiments, insights, and passions. However, the previous structure felt fragmented:

  • Work and Projects were separate, leading to redundancy.
  • Blog posts were the only structured way to share thoughts, limiting how I documented deep dives, book reviews, or travel experiences.
  • There was no dedicated space for charity and social impact work, which is an important part of what I do.

To better reflect my identity and seamlessly blend professional and personal content, I decided to restructure my website’s navigation.

2. Decision

The new structure introduces six key sections, each with a clear purpose:

🔹 Portfolio (Merged Work & Projects)

  • Why? Merging Work and Projects eliminates redundancy and provides a unified space for everything I build—whether for clients, employers, or myself.

🔹 Labs (Experiments & Deep Dives)

  • Why? My blog wasn’t the right place for structured, step-by-step build-in-public content.
  • Solution: “Labs” is a dedicated space for series-based technical explorations, like building APIs from scratch or experimenting with new frameworks.

🔹 Bookshelf (Reading & Insights)

  • Why? Books are a big part of my learning process, and I want a dedicated space to document insights, reviews, and takeaways.
  • Solution: A structured Bookshelf section to organize reading reflections instead of random blog posts.

🔹 Travel (Experiences & Stories)

  • Why? Travel is a major source of inspiration, and I want to document more than just places—but also cultural takeaways and experiences.
  • Solution: A “Travel” section for sharing personal stories, lessons, and discoveries from different parts of the world.

🔹 Impact (Charity & Giving Back)

  • Why? Social impact is an important part of my life, but it wasn’t represented on my site.
  • Solution: A dedicated “Impact” section to document charity work, volunteering, and projects that contribute to a greater cause.

3. Consequences

Clearer structure & purpose → Each section now has a defined role, making navigation more intuitive.
Seamless blend of work & personal life → No more artificial separation between professional projects and personal initiatives.
Encourages in-depth content → Labs and Bookshelf promote structured storytelling and knowledge sharing.
Improved storytelling for travel & charity → These sections make my website feel more personal, rather than just career-focused.

4. Next Steps

🔄 Implement the new navigation & restructure existing content
📚 Begin publishing in “Labs” and “Bookshelf” to give these sections life
📝 Gather feedback & iterate based on usability and engagement

This decision isn’t just about navigation—it’s about crafting a digital space that truly represents me. Excited for this next phase! 🚀
